A Calling to Paint the Savior

When I paint Jesus Christ, I try to listen carefully to what He wants people to feel when they see Him.

Many images of Christ show Him as distant or solemn. But when I pray and paint, I feel something different. I feel His kindness. His gentleness. His invitation to come closer.

My goal is not simply to create a beautiful painting.

My goal is to help people feel His presence.

That is why I pay close attention to the expression in His eyes, the light around Him, and the emotion in the moment. Every brushstroke becomes part of my effort to portray the Savior in a way that reflects His love for the world.

Painting With Prayer

Before I begin many paintings, I spend time in prayer.

I ask God to guide my hands and help me understand what the Savior wants people to see and feel. Often the ideas for a painting come quietly—like a whisper of inspiration.

Those moments remind me that my work is not only my own.

It is something I offer back to God.

When someone tells me that one of my paintings helped them feel closer to Jesus, that is the greatest reward an artist could ever receive.

Why I Continue to Paint Christ

There are many subjects an artist could choose to paint.

But I continue to return to Jesus Christ again and again.

Because the world needs Him.

Through every painting, my hope is that someone who sees it will pause, look into the Savior’s eyes, and remember that He knows them personally.

That He loves them.

And that He is still reaching out to them today.

That is why I paint.

Your Gift Has Purpose Too

I believe God has placed gifts inside each of us. Your talent, no matter how small it seems, has purpose. When you offer it back to Him, He will use it in ways you may never fully see. What feels ordinary in your hands can become something eternal in His.
