The first is of the biblical story of Jesus saving Peter from drowning. Peter did walk on water for a few seconds, but quickly lost faith and doubted. It was in that moment that Jesus reached out His almighty hand into the water to save Simon Peter.

The second meaning is putting ourselves in the role of Peter. Each of us needs saving, none of us is perfect, thus we will all need the saving hand of Jesus Christ in our lives!
